Why, yes, Dua Lipa is radically optimistic about her life with new husband Callum Turner. Now the singer and the actor are facing new rules with plans to see the world and potentially start a family.
We're just going to say it: Dua Lipa's meet-cute with now-husband Callum Turner had us levitating (whoo).
Well, perhaps not their meet-cute—very little happening after the three-time Grammy winner and Eternity actor were introduced by chef Ruth Rogers at her Italian eatery The River Cafe in their shared hometown of London.
But the 6-foot-2 Brit made enough of an impression that when the "Levitating" artist was dining with pal Mustafa the Poet ahead of a mutual friend's birthday party in Los Angeles a year later "and all of a sudden Callum shows up," she recounted to British Vogue last summer, Lipa thought, "'Oh, it's that really hot guy from The River Cafe.'"
Meanwhile, for the 36-year-old, who'd previously dated The Crown actress Vanessa Kirby, it was the book by Lipa's side that had him ready to fly away with her that night.
"I had just finished the first chapter," he recalled to The Sunday Times in October of Hernán Díaz's Trust, "and I told her and she looked at me and said, 'I just finished the first chapter too.' I said, 'So we’re on the same page."
With all the trappings of a rom-com trope, "In the movie version of it," noted Turner, "I look up to the sky and I'm like, I hear you. I understand. The signs are loud, don't worry.'"
The IRL adaptation also has the pair living happily ever after.
Two-plus years after her presence at the L.A. premiere of his World War II series Masters of the Air sparked dating rumors, the couple wed in an intimate ceremony at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall with the singer slipping into a custom white Schiaparelli skirt suit and a Stephen Jones wide-brim hat.
Days later, they celebrated once more with pals like Elton John, Charli XCX and Joe Alwyn, their June 6 Sicilian vows featuring a sweet nod to their origin story.
"I love love," Lipa, celebrating her 31st birthday Aug. 22, raved to Harper's Bazaar of their romance last year. "It's a really inspiring thing. You find yourself so intensely falling all the time in the best way possible."
Lipa—who enjoyed a two-year relationship with model Anwar Hadid before she was linked to Jack Harlow and French filmmaker Romain Gavras—knew pretty quickly that training season was over once she got to know Turner.
For starters, it felt like the universe was eager for him to be the one.
"There's a lot of Sliding Doors moments," she explained to Vogue UK of their shared invisible string. He spent at least one 2014 night at La Bodega Negra, the London spot she worked during that same stretch. And they have photographic evidence they each attended a 2020 pre-COVID party. Plus, noted Lipa, "We have so many friends in common."
Asked if all of that felt like a major sign, she told Vogue UK, "One thousand percent."
