Luke Dowling believes Watford need to sign a centre-forward this summer and wants one who can offer something different to what they currently have.
The club believe in the potential of Luca Kjerrumgaard and Mamadou Doumbia, but both options are raw and have struggled for consistency, while Vivaldo Semedo has departed on loan to Alverca.

Dowling outlined how difficult the striker market is, with every team chasing the number nine who can score 20+ goals per season, but confirmed Watford are in the market to recruit one and improve their forward line.
He said: "Would I like another one? Yes. I think we need one.
"In an ideal world, and this isn't easy, I'd like one different to what we've got. In terms of profile, I think we would benefit from having someone in that position who looks to run in behind more than come and show for the ball.
"I think that would give us a different dimension and, yes, that's an area we're looking at. We would like to add one, though it's probably not as much of a priority as the centre-half position."
"Unless you're Man City, everyone wants a number nine. It's the hardest thing to do in football, score a goal, so everyone wants one and we're no different.
"For us to go and get a striker we can hang our hat on and say that he's 20+ goals every season, it's expensive."
Dowling is less interested in the individual tally, though, focusing more on the type of goals they score and the impact they can have on the team.

He said: "We have to come up with different ways. We have to get our wide players scoring goals and we have to get our midfield players scoring goals."
"When I was at West Brom we brought in Charlie Austin from Southampton, thinking he would be that 20-25 goals man.
"We got promoted and he got 11 goals, but we had our centre-backs scoring six or seven between them, we have wide players who got 25 goals and midfield players chipped in.
"It's also the type of goals. Charlie got 11 but they were winners or equalisers. I'm not bothered about hat-tricks when we win 6-1, it's when we're one behind and someone pops up, or 0-0 and someone gets a winner.
