Byte Barrel has unveiled the second gameplay trailer for DIOXIDE, giving players a deeper look at its grim post-apocalyptic world. Revealed live at Gamescom, the new trailer offers the first proper glimpse inside the atmospheric church, a location previously teased in the game’s announcement trailer.

Currently in development for PC, DIOXIDE is a tactical first-person shooter that blends intense combat with Soulslike elements. Set in a dystopian world devastated by industrial decay, the game puts players in the shoes of someone treated as nothing more than another expendable part of a massive corporate machine.

Things take a dramatic turn after the protagonist obtains the Core-ID administrator module, giving them the ability to return from death. That power quickly turns them into the corporation’s most wanted target, forcing them to fight back against the system while attempting to create a hidden sanctuary for the remaining survivors.

DIOXIDE’s world is brought to life through Byte Barrel’s distinctive blood-soaked, comic-book-inspired visual style. Players will explore a sprawling corporate-controlled metropolis filled with soot-covered factories, toxic underground areas, and heavily protected districts reserved for the wealthy.

Each area comes with its own dangers, resources, and challenges. Standing in the player’s way are ruthless neo-antique enforcers, mass-produced to maintain corporate control and eliminate anyone who dares to resist.

With its bleak setting and brutal atmosphere, DIOXIDE is shaping up to be a particularly dark FPS experience. The latest trailer certainly makes it one to keep an eye on.
