Dakota Johnson's rock star boyfriend, Role Model, has officially confirmed their relationship for the first time, eight months after the pair were spotted sharing a cozy dinner in December 2025.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star features on her partner's song, "Love I You", which is on the track list of his new album Chuck Timely & The Hourglass.

Role Model, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, told Rolling Stone he needed a female voice to join him on the bridge of the song, and Dakota readily stepped up to the plate.

"We had had a list of ideas for people, and [producer] Mason [Stoops] kept bringing up, you know, 'Why doesn't Dakota do it?'" Role Model said in the interview.

"And I was always like, 'Well, I don't… I think keeping those things separate is probably good,' and blah, blah, blah. And then one day he convinced her and I was just like, 'Yeah, let's try it', and it was amazing."

"Her voice was perfect on it," he continued. "Obviously, yeah, you know that that's going to lead to discussions online, but also, it made the song really special to me, and what a cool cameo to have, too."

The cameo sees Role Model and his girlfriend engaged in a flirty conversation set to music, with the singer starting with: "Hey, I think you're perfect," while Dakota responds: "You say that to everyone."

"Kay, well, is it working?" he chimes in, as she replies: "Yeah, but don't tell anyone."

"Oh, you think you're big time?" she adds later, before quipping, "Oh, you're Mr Big Night."

The couple have been quietly dating for several months, and stepped out together in March at Paul McCartney's farewell tour show in Los Angeles.

They are both intensely private when it comes to their love lives, with Role Model telling Nylon that he wanted to keep his career and love life strictly separate.

"Keeping things about music is what I've learned. Otherwise, the internet just has a field day. Everyone's a detective," he told the outlet.

The 29-year-old added that he often approached romance with caution. "I expect the worst-case scenario, always," he explained. "I wouldn't change that about myself. I think it's good to have those questions and not just be diving headfirst into things based on attraction or a first date going well."

Dakota has always been private about her relationships, especially her eight-year romance with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, whom she dated on-and-off-again between 2017 and 2025. The duo never walked the red carpet together at industry events, and made sparse and vague references to each other in interviews.

Similarly, Role Model's relationship with mega influencer Emma Chamberlain also flew under the radar, with the pair stepping out together on rare occasions. They dated from 2020 to 2023, and the star credited his intense homesickness as one of the reasons for their demise as a couple.
