He could do the hot wings circuit and be fine, but he chooses this route instead. Why? He has an Oscar, he has the respect of his peers, he has his choice of work, he has studios that will back him, he has an audience (some people care about the abuse allegations; many more people do not).

House of the Dragon is such an interesting case study because I find it much more complex (from a character perspective) than Game of Thrones but it is less of a star-making series. The actors from GoT were everywhere but House of the Dragon doesn’t feel like that.
