Their show last night consisted of 29 songs, reportedly all from the 3LP
Prolific indie folk crew Big Thief have reportedly got a new triple album called Horsepower on the way, and they performed it live last night (August 22) at Nashville, TN's Ryman Auditorium.
According to couple of posts on Big Thief's subreddit, as well as a note on setlist.fm, vocalist Adrianne Lenker told the crowd that the setlist would consist only of cuts from the group's upcoming 3LP Horsepower.
The 29-song setlist included several songs making their live debut, as well as other ones the group have already been playing live. This includes Lenker's solo song "Sadness as a Gift," although this isn't entirely surprising, since she's mingled her solo work and her full-band work before. The songs "oldest" and "happiness" both previously appeared on her Live at Revolution Hall album, but haven't had studio versions.
Additionally, Big Thief's 2023 single "Born for Loving You" was in the setlist. Buck Meek sang lead on a new song called "No Matter What."
Guests during the set included Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, Iris DeMent, Greg Leisz, Russ Pahl and a fiddle section. It's not entirely clear from the information available online if those guests are also on the album, although a year-old post on Reddit suggests that DeMent has indeed recorded something with Big Thief.
