Former Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty has left Charlton after captaining the club to promotion and helping secure Championship survival.
The 29-year-old joined the Addicks in 2024 and was soon appointed captain.
He led Charlton from League One into the Championship during his first season at the club. Docherty also played a part in helping the side remain in the second tier last season.
However, following several new arrivals during the summer, the midfielder had not played in a league match this season.
Charlton announced his departure today. Docherty is now a free agent and can wait until after the transfer deadline before deciding on his next move.
Docherty said: "To be named captain of such an iconic football club was nothing short of a privilege. I'll always be grateful for my time at Charlton and everything the club has given me, but football moves fast I'm now excited to see what the future holds."
Manager Nathan Jones said: "Doc from the moment that I met him was everything that I believed he was.

"He's a leader, an unbelievable pro and he should take his rightful place in the history of Charlton Athletic."
The manager said Docherty had led the club through a difficult period before promotion and had been important during the following Championship campaign.
Jones said: "The tough thing is, we want to evolve, we want to improve on every level and it meant that Doc's game time was probably going to be more limited than he wanted."
He said discussions had taken place between the club and player before the decision was made.
Jones said: "Doc has been an inspirational captain, he's been wonderful to deal with every day, I cannot speak highly enough of him."
He added: "He leaves the club with masses and masses of respect, with our thanks and our gratitude and with a real heavy heart because we're going to miss him."
Jones said: "We thank him for everything. He gave us, and certainly gave me, one of the greatest days I've ever had, at Wembley."
