Mahindra has added a new heavy commercial truck to its range with the launch of the BLAZO i-TRK. The truck brings more technology to everyday freight work, but the main numbers are easy to understand. Mahindra claims up to 10% better fuel efficiency, while the company says the truck can help generate up to Rs 15 lakh more profit per vehicle over five years.

The other big number is 48 hours. If an eligible truck is not put back on the road within the promised period, Mahindra will pay Rs 10,000 per day, subject to the terms of the guarantee.

The BLAZO i-TRK uses Mahindra’s 7.2-litre mPOWER diesel engine. It produces 320hp and 1,100Nm of torque between 1,100rpm and 1,700rpm.

The iFuelSmart system checks factors such as road gradients, payload and driving conditions. It then selects the suitable power mode automatically.

Fuel savings are a major part of the package

Mahindra says the BLAZO i-TRK can deliver up to 10% higher fuel efficiency. The company also says its fuel efficiency has improved by up to 15% over the earlier BLAZO during the last year.

The claimed benefit can be important for operators because fuel is one of the biggest running costs for a heavy truck.

The truck gets Mahindra’s iMAXX 2.0 connected vehicle platform. It gives fleet owners information about the truck, driver and service requirements.

There is also an optional Driver Monitoring System. It uses a two-way camera to check the road and can monitor driver recognition, seat-belt use and signs of fatigue or drowsiness.

Mahindra has also added several service-related benefits with the BLAZO i-TRK.

Its Quick Service Points are planned within 75km on national highways and 50km on state highways. The Parts Supply Guarantee covers 250 critical parts, with eligible parts supplied free if they are not made available within the promised 24-hour period.

The truck also gets long-term mCARE maintenance and extended warranty plans.

The Now24x7 mobile app adds another layer of convenience. Fleet owners can use it to:

Mahindra has also paid attention to the driver area. The BLAZO i-TRK gets a three-way adjustable COMFiMAXX suspended seat, EzyCruise cruise control and a factory-fitted air-conditioned cabin.

The entertainment system supports Bluetooth, FM/AM radio, USB and AUX. A microphone is also provided for hands-free calls.
