Recently, Kia India unveiled the much-awaited Sorento SUV ahead of its September 4 launch. Now, dealer yard sightings have given us a closer look at the India-spec model. The spotted SUV is a seven-seater diesel version and comes with a DCT badge at the rear.

The Sorento has a large and premium design. It also gets a spacious cabin with three rows of seats. Kia will offer the SUV with diesel and strong-hybrid powertrains.

The latest vehicle carries a DCT badge, pointing to the 2.2-litre diesel engine. This engine is expected to make around 202 PS and 441 Nm. It is paired with an 8-speed DCT automatic.

The second powertrain will be a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong hybrid. It is expected to produce around 240 PS and 380 Nm, with a 6-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is expected with the hybrid.

The white Sorento at a dealer yard uses a second-row bench seat. It gets a 60:40 split, and the seats can slide and recline. This gives the SUV seven seats.

The third-row seats can be folded using straps from the luggage area. Boot buttons can also release the second-row seats. A powered tailgate is available.

The model gets a beige and black cabin. Earlier units were seen with a brown interior, so Kia may offer different cabin themes. Visible equipment includes:

The infotainment system is expected to get Kia’s AI Assistant with Live Generative AI. India will be the first market to get this technology on the Sorento.

The Sorento measures 4,815 mm long and 1,900 mm wide. It gets a large grille, vertical LED lighting, roof rails and 19-inch alloy wheels. The squared rear adds to its SUV look.

Kia has started producing the Sorento at its Anantapur plant. Pre-bookings are also open. The SUV will sit above the Seltos. Rivals include the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron and Jeep Meridian.

Kia has not announced the final price or variant details. Prices are expected to start around Rs 40 lakh, ex-showroom. The September 4 launch will reveal pricing.
