Andhra Pradesh government is on a high alert as the northern part of the state is likely to receive rainfall under the influence of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.
Home and Disaster Management Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has directed district administrations to remain alert and take all necessary precautionary measures.
The minister said strong winds of 40–50 kmph are likely to blow along the coastal areas and urged people to exercise caution.
As the sea is expected to remain rough, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea and to strictly follow weather warnings issued by the Meteorological Department.
Anitha instructed officials to maintain special vigilance in coastal and low-lying areas.
She directed the police, revenue, fisheries and disaster management departments to work in close coordination to deal with any emergency.
“Protection of people’s lives and property is the top priority,” the minister said, directing officials to continuously monitor the situation and keep rescue and relief teams ready to respond at short notice.
District authorities have been asked to remain prepared for any weather-related eventuality and ensure prompt assistance to people in vulnerable areas. according to a release.
