{"id":5032,"date":"2026-08-03T15:52:43","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T15:52:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/futureknowledge.in\/?p=5032"},"modified":"2026-08-03T15:52:43","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T15:52:43","slug":"sc-asks-ed-whether-limited-funds-can-be-released-for-tmcs-frozen-accounts-for-daily-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/futureknowledge.in\/?p=5032","title":{"rendered":"SC asks ED whether limited funds can be released for TMC\u2019s frozen accounts for daily operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sc0.blr1.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com\/article\/213249-htgqxsxnyg-1777785495.jpg\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Enforcement Directorate whether a <a class=\"link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barandbench.com\/news\/tmc-account-freeze-case-supreme-court-asks-ed-whether-limited-funds-can-be-released-for-partys-daily-operations\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><u>limited amount of funds<\/u><\/a> from the Trinamool Congress\u2019 frozen bank accounts could be released to a court-appointed administrator for the party to meet its daily expenses, <em>Bar and Bench<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The bench of Justices MM Sundresh and PB Varale was hearing a plea by the Mamata Banerjee-led faction of the TMC challenging the Calcutta High Court order.<\/p>\n<p>The High Court had on July 20 <a href=\"https:\/\/scroll.in\/latest\/1094402\/calcutta-hc-refuses-to-allow-tmc-to-operate-bank-accounts-frozen-by-ed\"><u>refused to allow<\/u><\/a> the TMC to operate three bank accounts frozen by the ED. The party had approached the High Court challenging the probe agency\u2019s action under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.<\/p>\n<p>The case pertains to alleged financial irregularities, unlawful collection of money and routing of suspected funds through certain bank accounts of the TMC.<\/p>\n<p>On June 19, the Kolkata Police froze debit operations on the accounts, a day after rebel TMC MLA Biswanath Das filed a complaint alleging that funds had been misused.
