The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has constituted seven special survey teams to inspect the misuse of terrace-level “AC Plant Rooms” in buildings across the city. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Itankar has directed the teams to submit their findings within 15 days.<\/p>\n
The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by the Municipal Commissioner on Monday. Officials observed that while several residential, commercial and industrial projects had obtained building approvals by showing terrace-level AC Plant Rooms in their sanctioned plans, many of these spaces were allegedly being used for purposes other than those approved, in violation of building regulations.<\/p>\n
The seven survey teams will conduct on-site inspections to verify whether AC Plant Rooms are being used strictly in accordance with the sanctioned building plans. A detailed report on each inspected project will be submitted to the civic administration within the stipulated 15-day period.<\/p>\n
Commissioner Dr. Vipin Itankar warned that if any discrepancy is found between the sanctioned plans and the actual use of the premises, strict legal action will be initiated under the provisions of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act, 1966. The NMC has also appealed to developers, plot owners and builders to fully cooperate with the survey teams and ensure compliance with all applicable building regulations.<\/p>\n
