Weekly Weather Update:<\/strong> Monsoon activities have once again become very active in the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy to extremely heavy rain in many parts of the country for the coming 7 days. According to the Meteorological Department, torrential rains will continue in Northeast and adjacent Eastern India for the next one week. At the same time, monsoon clouds will rain heavily in the North Indian states of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Due to changes in weather systems, there is a possibility of rain with lightning and strong winds (speed of 30 to 50 km per hour) from hilly to plain states.<\/p>\n

Major weather systems active in the country<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the bulletin of the Meteorological Department, at present the western end of the monsoon trough is towards the south from its normal position, while the eastern end is towards the north from its normal position. Apart from this, many cyclonic circulations are also active. A cyclonic circulation is persisting in the lower troposphere over north-eastern Rajasthan and adjoining areas. The upper air cyclonic circulation is active over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and North-Eastern Assam. The Western Disturbance has persisted as a cyclonic circulation at the middle tropospheric level in and around Jammu division.<\/p>\n

North India: Alert for Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and UP<\/strong><\/p>\n

The plains and hilly states of northwest India will see widespread rainfall activity for the next few days. There is a possibility of widespread rainfall with strong winds at the speed of 30-40 kmph, accompanied by thunder and lightning over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab during August 4 to 6. On August 3 and 4, there may be heavy rain in different parts of Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh and Punjab. There are chances of heavy rains with strong winds in Western Uttar Pradesh from 3rd to 7th August and in Eastern Uttar Pradesh from 3rd to 8th August. A warning of heavy rain has been issued in different districts of Uttar Pradesh between August 3 and 7.<\/p>\n

The rainy season will continue in the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh from 3rd to 9th August and in Uttarakhand from 4th to 9th August. There may be extremely heavy rain in Uttarakhand on August 3, while an alert of heavy rain has been issued from August 4 to 9. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh between August 3 and 7. Talking about Rajasthan, heavy rains may be seen in North-Eastern and Western Rajasthan from 6th to 9th August.<\/p>\n

Northeast India: Fear of torrential rains and massive devastation<\/strong><\/p>\n

The weather is going to be most aggressive in the states of North-East India. IMD has issued a warning of extremely heavy rainfall (21 cm or more) here. There is a possibility of extremely heavy rain in Arunachal Pradesh on August 3. There will be an alert of very heavy rain on 4th August and heavy rain from 5th to 7th August. A warning of extremely heavy rain has been issued in Assam and Meghalaya on August 4 and 5. There will be very heavy rain on August 3 and intermittent heavy rain during August 4 to 9. There will be widespread rain in these four states of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from August 3 to 9. Very heavy rainfall at isolated places on 3 and 4 August, while heavy rainfall is predicted during 5 to 9 August.<\/p>\n

Eastern India: Condition of Bihar, Jharkhand and Bengal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most of the states of Eastern India will remain cloudy during August 3 to 9 with rain accompanied by strong winds at many places. There is an alert of extremely heavy rain in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on August 4. Apart from this, there is a possibility of very heavy rain on 3rd and 5th August. Very heavy rain may occur at isolated places in Bihar on August 3 and 4, while heavy rain is forecast on August 5 and 6. Jharkhand will see heavy rain between 4th and 7th August. An alert of heavy rain has been issued in Odisha from 3 to 9 August and in Gangetic West Bengal from 5 to 7 August. There is a warning of thunderstorms (gusty winds reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph) in Andaman and Nicobar Islands from August 4 to 9.<\/p>\n

Central India: Weather will change in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh<\/strong><\/p>\n

Monsoon activities will gain momentum in the states of Central India from August 5. There will be widespread rainfall over East Madhya Pradesh between August 5 to 9 and West Madhya Pradesh between August 6 to 9. There may be heavy rain in different parts of Madhya Pradesh during August 3 and August 6 to 8. There are chances of continuous heavy rains in Chhattisgarh from 3rd to 9th August. There will be rain and thundershowers in Vidarbha on August 7 and 8.<\/p>\n

West and South India: Strong winds in coastal areas<\/strong><\/p>\n

Widespread rainfall will continue over Konkan and Goa from August 3 to 9, with very heavy rainfall likely on August 3. Central Maharashtra may also receive heavy to very heavy rain on August 3 and 4. Rain activities will continue over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep for the next 6 to 7 days. Coastal Karnataka may experience very heavy rain on August 3 and heavy falls during August 4 to 9. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal will receive heavy rain on August 3 and again on August 6-7. Strong surface winds are expected over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema and interior Karnataka during August 3 to 9.<\/p>\n
