Hyderabad: US financial services major Charles Schwab has officially opened its first India-based technology capability centre in Hyderabad, marking another major expansion by a global financial services company into the city\u2019s growing technology and Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem.<\/p>\n
The Hyderabad centre was inaugurated on August 19, 2026 and will support Charles Schwab\u2019s operations in the United States through technology development, engineering and operations capabilities. The company plans to scale the workforce at the centre to approximately 2,000 employees by the end of 2027, according to a government statement cited by Reuters.<\/p>\n
Charles Schwab has secured approximately 3.45 lakh square feet of office space in Hyderabad\u2019s Gachibowli IT corridor. The facility is located at Phoenix Equinox Tower 2, with the company leasing space across multiple floors.<\/p>\n
Documents accessed by real estate data provider Propstack showed a five-year lease covering around 345,426 sq ft. The reported rent is approximately \u20b93.73 crore per month, with annual escalation built into the agreement.<\/p>\n
The size of the facility gives Schwab significant room to build its India operations as hiring progresses. Earlier reports indicated that the centre could accommodate around 2,000 employees, broadly matching the company\u2019s workforce target for the end of 2027.<\/p>\n
The Hyderabad centre is being positioned as a strategic extension of Charles Schwab\u2019s global technology organisation rather than simply a back-office operation. The company says its Hyderabad location will bring together talent and technology to drive innovation, scale and efficiency for the wider Schwab organisation.<\/p>\n
Roles currently being advertised in Hyderabad include software development and engineering, solutions architecture, cybersecurity, systems engineering, business systems analysis and data-related positions. Charles Schwab\u2019s careers portal describes Hyderabad as central to the company\u2019s growth in India.<\/p>\n
The centre is expected to support areas such as technology development, engineering, analytics, cybersecurity, digital capabilities and operational functions that serve Schwab\u2019s US business.<\/p>\n
Charles Schwab\u2019s decision to establish its first Indian technology development centre in Hyderabad was announced in August 2024. The Telangana government said the decision followed discussions between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu and senior Charles Schwab executives at the company\u2019s headquarters in Dallas.<\/p>\n
The company subsequently established Charles Schwab Services India Private Limited as its Indian entity and began building its Hyderabad capability centre.<\/p>\n
The centre is expected to scale rapidly. Reuters reported that the company plans to increase its Hyderabad workforce to approximately 500 employees by the end of 2026 and around 2,000 employees by the end of 2027. Some technology functions previously outsourced to Indian contractors are also expected to be brought in-house through the new centre.<\/p>\n
Charles Schwab is already recruiting for a range of technology and engineering positions in Hyderabad, providing an indication of the breadth of capabilities being developed locally.<\/p>\n
The expansion strengthens Hyderabad\u2019s position as a major destination for Global Capability Centres in the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector. The city has increasingly attracted multinational financial institutions looking for technology, engineering, analytics, cybersecurity and digital talent.<\/p>\n
Charles Schwab\u2019s entry also comes amid a broader expansion of GCCs in Hyderabad, with global companies increasingly using the city for high-value technology and engineering work rather than traditional support functions.<\/p>\n
