Both films hit theatres on August 14 and are now facing the usual weekday slowdown.

While Emraan Hashmi leads the romantic drama Awarapan 2, Sunny Deol headlines the Partition-era period film Batwara 1947. With the two films offering completely different cinematic experiences, the big question now is: who is winning the Tuesday box office battle?

Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Batwara 1947 revolves around a Muslim family forced to leave Lucknow following the Partition. Backed by Aamir Khan, the period drama stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol and Kanikka Kapur in prominent roles.

A post shared by Aamir Khan Productions (@aamirkhanproductions)

The film opened to a decent ₹5.75 Cr on Day 1 and maintained a positive momentum through the opening weekend. However, its collections witnessed a steep decline on Monday, and Tuesday has offered little respite so far. As of 7:30 PM, Batwara 1947 has reportedly earned around ₹1.13 Cr net today. Its total India gross now stands at ₹35.28 Cr, while the India net collection has reached ₹29.63 Cr.

Riding on a strong wave of nostalgia, Awarapan 2 continues to enjoy a stellar run at the box office. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the film opened to a massive ₹22 Cr, as per Sacnilk, giving Emraan Hashmi his biggest opening day at the box office.

A post shared by Emraan Hashmi (@therealemraan)

After facing the Monday test, the film has maintained a steady pace on Tuesday. As of 7:30 PM, Awarapan 2 has added around ₹4.93 Cr to its tally today. With this, its total India gross collection stands at ₹114.83 Cr, while the India net collection has reached ₹95.93 Cr.

The current box office numbers paint a clear picture. Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 continues to stay ahead of Sunny Deol's Batwara 1947, emerging as the stronger choice among moviegoers. In the Tuesday box office battle, Awarapan 2 is leading by around ₹3-4 Cr, while its overall India net collection is already ahead by more than ₹65 Cr.

Source: Read the original article on www.filmibeat.com

Batwara 1947 Vs Awarapan 2 Box Office Collection Day 5 Early Updates: Sunny Deol and Emraan Hashmi went head-to-head at the box office with their respective Independence Day 2026 releases, Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2.
