Streaming service\u00a0Netflix<\/a>\u00a0has released its data about the biggest TV shows and movies of the year so far<\/a> \u2013 and to be honest, we\u2019ve been pretty surprised by the results.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For instance,\u00a0mystery thriller\u00a0His & Hers<\/a>\u00a0has taken the top series slot, above massive hitters like\u00a0Bridgerton<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Stranger Things<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s had a whopping 104 million hours of view time worldwide between January and June 2026.<\/p>\n

As for the film category, the top spot<\/a> went up against some stiff competition \u2013 the indefatigable KPop Demon Hunters<\/a> stayed strong in fourth place, while rom-com People We Meet On Vacation<\/a> enjoyed seventh.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But number one went to military thriller War Machine, starring Alan Ritchson,\u00a0Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, and Esai Morales.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ritchson\u00a0\u201cplays a combat engineer who enters the elite US Army Ranger selection process, pursuing a long-abandoned goal he once shared with his brother,\u201d its synopsis reads.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the last round of the relentless training program, the candidates find themselves fighting to evade the sights of a massive and mysterious killing machine.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

With a respectable 66% on review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, Empire<\/a> said that while the 2026 film isn\u2019t exactly sophisticated, \u201cthere\u2019s something inherently satisfying in watching a man who is 80 per cent bicep hit things with varying degrees of extreme force\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Or, as The Guardian put it<\/a>,\u00a0\u201cNetflix bravely asks: what if Predator but Transformers?\u201d (they gave it three out of five stars).<\/p>\n

During the first half of the year, Netflix\u2019s Tudum shared<\/a>\u00a0that War Machine racked up a dizzying 146.9 million views.<\/p>\n

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the publication added:\u00a0\u201cA sequel is on the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
