Granted, the company is making some effort by having a couple of plug-in hybrids in the form of the 849 Testarossa<\/a> and 296 GTB and GTS. The F80 hypercar is also a hybrid, although its priority is performance rather than outright efficiency, the Luce should help Ferrari reduce its average carbon emissions.<\/p>\n Ferrari<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n In a report by Motor1 Italia, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna mentioned how the company will tackle its carbon-reduction efforts. Whereas major automakers are going as far as increasing recycled content and adjusting supply chains<\/a>, Ferrari is taking smaller steps in achieving its carbon-reduction targets.<\/p>\n During an earnings call, Vigna was quoted as saying, “We place biofuels in the category of carbon-neutral fuels. For us, they are part of that group, and they work well in our engines. We have already tested different types of carbon-neutral fuels, and the engine performs very well. Nothing changes.”<\/p>\n Now, the use of carbon-neutral fuels doesn’t mean the combustion-powered Ferraris won’t emit any emissions. It simply means the way the fuel was produced compensates for the emissions it will produce once consumed.<\/p>\n Vigna’s recent quote backs up Ferrari’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030. That initiative was announced way back in mid-2022, and the folks from Maranello are determined to achieve that. Of course, it won’t be easy, but adding hybrid models to its lineup is a step toward that cause.<\/p>\n With the promising test results of the biofuel-powered engines, it should help Ferrari get a little bit closer to its net-zero carbon target, which is just three and a half years away at the time of writing. A second EV is planned as well, although recent reports suggest it’s been pushed back for now. Still, that’s another model with no tailpipe that should help Ferrari avoid emission penalties in Europe and in some parts of the world.<\/p>\n As for the biofuel-powered engines, there’s no definite timeline for the start of their application. Ferrari does have two new models coming soon, one of which will likely be the hybrid-powered F80 Aperta<\/a>.
