The show, premiering Oct. 15 on the streamer, follows Voorhees\u2019 life prior to the events of the first \u201cFriday the 13th\u201d film. It also stars William Catlett as Levon Brooks, though exact character details remain under wraps.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember one of my most fun moviegoing experiences was I saw \u2018Freddy vs. Jason\u2019 on the Universal City Walk, which is a giant movie theater, at the height of its popularity, and people were screaming at the screen and throwing things,\u201d she told me Sunday at the HBO Max Emmy Nominee Celebration event in Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p>Does she predict the same for the new TV show? \u201cThis is a longer format so there\u2019s a lot more you get to do in eight episodes,\u201d Cardellini said. \u201cIt\u2019s not necessarily like 90 minutes of pure horror. There\u2019s a lot of story there. So maybe once in a while you\u2019ll throw some things and scream.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt does get gory, yes, so much so that I wish sometimes they weren\u2019t as practical as they were,\u201d Cardellini said. \u201cThere\u2019s a couple of gory moments on set that were very practical that were pretty gross. Blood everywhere at one point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cardellini said most horror scripts she\u2019s given are for characters who are running away from the killer. \u201cEverything that I\u2019ve ever read that was handed to me that was in that space was for the person who was being chased, not the person who was chasing everyone,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was really fun this time to be on the other side of the knife.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pamela first appeared in the original \u201cFriday the 13th\u201d movie in 1980 as Jason\u2019s mother.
