Potential buyers will have a lot of reasons to compare these upcoming launch cars before buying any, especially when manufacturers will try to compete by increasing driving ranges and lowering prices.

Models that will be of interest to buyers include the Kia Syros EV, Tata Sierra EV, upcoming seven-seater electric SUV from MG, Honda Elevate EV, upcoming electric SUV models from Mahindra and VinFast’s smaller VF3. The launch schedule, price and specifications of some of these models are not certain at present.

Kia Syros EV is expected to be one of the cheaper new electric SUVs that will be sold in India. The estimated price for it currently stands at about ₹15 lakh to ₹18 lakh, but the actual price will depend on which versions will be available in India.

The Syros EV is expected to have many similarities with Hyundai small electric cars, where it has been speculated that it will have a battery capacity of 42kWh and 49kWh in similar international models, which have WLTP ranges of 300km and 350km respectively.

But the most attractive feature could very well be its positioning, as it can position itself as a step up from cheaper gas cars.

The launch of the Sierra range has been highly awaited by Tata Motors, and the launch of the Sierra Electric will be crucial for the company’s upcoming plans in the EV segment.

The Sierra EV is likely to come as a range-topper in Tata’s line-up of electric SUVs and is speculated to offer a claimed range that might hover in the vicinity of 500km or beyond, based on the final battery pack size. The price range of the vehicle is expected to be anywhere between ₹20 lakh and ₹30 lakh.

For customers who are looking for something special in the electric SUV category, Sierra Electric may turn out to be one of the most exciting launches of the year.

One of the most immediate releases of an EV on the horizon is from JSW MG Motor India. This is a new release of their seven-seater SUV in the EV variant set to launch on 26th August 2026. Pre-orders for the product have commenced.

The future SUV is expected to provide 500km plus in claimed range, and it will be the first MG EV built on the company’s ADAPT platform in India. The aim of the car manufacturer is for people that want a spacious family vehicle while still maintaining the features of an electric car.

It is important to note that there is no official announcement yet about the price of the car.

Another brand that is expected to join the Indian EV SUV market soon is Honda through an EV based on the Elevate name. At the moment, the estimated cost is estimated to be around ₹18 lakh.

The Elevate EV will be of great importance because Honda has not been a dominant force in India’s passenger car electric market.

Details such as battery capacity and certified range should become clearer closer to the official launch.

Mahindra is extending its Born Electric family and is projected to launch other cars using its specialized EV platforms. Its lineup of electric cars is already catching eyeballs, whereas new offerings will allow it to diversify across various SUV categories.

Source: Read the original article on indiaobservers.com

The Indian EV market is entering an important period in the latter half of 2026, when various new models are anticipated from the SUV, family car and premium segments.
