New Delhi:<\/strong> Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday firmly dismissed speculation about a possible move to national politics, asserting that his visit to the national capital was solely aimed at securing support for key development projects in the state.<\/p>\n Speaking to reporters after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Fadnavis said he remained fully committed to his responsibilities as Chief Minister and had no plans to shift his political focus to Delhi.<\/p>\n Referring to the recurring speculation surrounding his visits to the national capital, Fadnavis said such discussions had become routine.<\/p>\n “Whether I am in Delhi or Mumbai, people keep speculating. Many people seem to have nothing else to do, so they enjoy discussing me. Let them enjoy it,” he remarked.<\/p>\n The Chief Minister reiterated that he had been entrusted with the responsibility of leading Maharashtra by both the people of the state and the BJP’s central leadership, and that his priority continued to be the state’s development.<\/p>\n “The people of Maharashtra and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have given me the responsibility of the state. I will continue to discharge that responsibility,” he said.<\/p>\n Fadnavis said his meetings in Delhi were focused on expediting several projects relating to infrastructure development, industrial investment and pending approvals from the Central Government. He indicated that discussions with the Centre were aimed at accelerating Maharashtra’s development agenda.<\/p>\n Responding to questions on the BJP’s newly announced national office-bearers, Fadnavis said he had not yet had the opportunity to go through the list as he had just concluded his meeting.<\/p>\n “To be honest, I have not seen the new team yet. I have just come out of the meeting. If someone from Maharashtra has been given a place in the national team, it is a matter of happiness for us. I will study the complete list and then comment on it,” he said.<\/p>\n Asked about reports suggesting that some leaders wanted him to take up a role in the BJP’s national organisation, Fadnavis responded with characteristic humour.<\/p>\n “Many people feel that I should go to Delhi. I tell everyone that I am in Mumbai only,” he said, making it clear that he intends to continue leading the Maharashtra government.<\/p>\n Fadnavis’s remarks come amid persistent political speculation over his future role within the BJP following his recent engagements with the party’s central leadership.
