The actor and singer is being sued, along with her mother, over their mental health start-up Wondermind Global<\/p>\n

Selena Gomez\u2019s lawyers have slammed a lawsuit accusing the actor and singer of fraud, calling the claims \u201ccompletely meritless, both factually and legally.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old actor and singer launched mental health start-up Wondermind Global in 2021 alongside her mother Mandy Teefey and their former business partner Daniella Pierson.<\/p>\n
On Friday, they were sued by investors in the company who claimed that Gomez failed to deliver on promises she would be actively involved in building the company as head of marketing.<\/p>\n
However, her lawyer Mathew S. Rosengart has now responded in a statement to People, saying: \u201cThe allegations that Selena Gomez engaged in any way whatsoever in any purported \u2018fraud\u2019 or other wrongdoing are completely meritless, both factually and legally.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rosengart added: \u201cWe will vigorously defend these false allegations and indeed are filing a motion to dismiss the baseless claims against her.\u201d<\/p>\n
The plaintiffs in the lawsuit say they invested nearly $1.2 million in Wondermind Global, which promised \u2060to help users strengthen their \u201cmental \u200bfitness.\u201d<\/p>\n
The suit was filed in federal court in Delaware.<\/p>\n
\u201cGomez purported to sign a contract obligating \u2060her to perform and then ignored it,\u201d the lawsuit claimed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was no legitimate enterprise in the works, much less a lucrative one,\u201d the plaintiffs added, saying that the company failed to meet \u201ceven its most basic obligations, such as \u200ctimely paying its employees and vendors.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u2060lawsuit argues that the plaintiffs were \u2060unaware of the company's troubles until an online news story \u200cdetailed them \u200bin September 2025. Plaintiffs \u200care seeking to recoup \u200btheir investments and legal fees.<\/p>\n
In May last year, a source told People that Gomez had personally stepped in after learning that employees had not been paid.<\/p>\n
