Ewan McGregor has revealed he is searching for a feature film project to direct in Scotland as he pledged to spend more time working in his home country.<\/p>\n
The Trainspotting and Star Wars star suggested he wanted to work with young actors on a \u201ccontemporary\u201d story during an appearance at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.<\/p>\n
The actor, who bought a new home in his native Perthshire two years ago, told the audience that he was \u201ctired of being away" from Scotland.<\/p>\n
He appeared at the film festival weeks after it was announced that he would be starring alongside Alan Cumming at Pitlochry Festival Theatre in a stage adaptation of the feature film Supernova.<\/p>\n
McGregor discussion of his hopes of a return to the role of his Star Wars character Obi-Wan Kenobi in future, but admitted he was probably too told to be considered for the lead role in the next James Bond movie.<\/p>\n
McGregor spoke of his ambitions to direct a feature film in Scotland after being asked if he wanted to follow in the footsteps of Cumming, who was appointed artistic director of Pitlochry Festival Theatre two years ago.<\/p>\n
McGregor, who made his directorial debut with an adaptation of the novel American Pastoral, which he also starred in, suggested he was actively looking for projects in Scotland.<\/p>\n
He told the film festival audience: \u201cI would like to direct a movie here.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s what I\u2019ve been looking for since I directed American Pastoral.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and it was a period film. I felt it had to be classically filmed.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very proud of it and I like what we did, but I often feel that it was my second or third film and I have still not made my first film, which I have always felt should be made here.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to do something with young people, something contemporary. That\u2019s what I\u2019m looking out for.<\/p>\n
"I\u2019ve seen a couple of things recently that I've almost got my hands on, but not quite. Watch this space.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked about the impact of his move back to Scotland on his career, McGregor said: \u201cI'm trying to work here.<\/p>\n
\u201cI'm trying to work closer to home. You can't ever say, "Okay, I'm only going to work here.\u2019<\/p>\n
