Ramagundam police commissioner Ambar Kishore Jha said on Friday that PD Act notices had been served on Gampa Santosh Kumar, a rice mill owner facing charges of diverting custom milled rice (CMR) valued at `15.70 crore to the black market.<\/p>\n
The notices were issued under Sections 3(1) and 3(2) of the Prevention of Black Marketing and Maintenance of Supplies of Essential Commodities Act, 1980.<\/p>\n
Luxettipet circle inspector Ramana Murthy and Dandepalli sub-inspector Rajavardhan served the notices on Santosh Kumar at Luxettipet sub-jail. He was later shifted to Cherlapalli jail. Cases have been registered against him at Dandepalli and Hajipur police stations.<\/p>\n
Santosh Kumar was the managing partner of Ram Laxman Industries Rice Mill at Lingapur village in Dandepalli mandal of Mancherial district.<\/p>\n
Police said the rice mill had supplied only 1,833.511 metric tonnes of CMR to the state government against 9,244.206 metric tonnes of paddy allotted by the Civil Supplies Department for the 2022-23 Rabi and 2024-25 Rabi seasons.<\/p>\n
According to the authorities, the mill was required to supply 4,452.548 metric tonnes of CMR to the state government. They found that 6,170.643 metric tonnes of paddy had allegedly been diverted to the black market.<\/p>\n
