The railway police on Thursday (August 13, 2026) arrested an absconding terrorist after \u201c35 years\u201d. He is wanted for a 1991 bomb blast, which left three dead. Police identified the accused as Altaf Hussain Sheikh, a resident of Marhama, Bijbehara, Anantnag, in south Kashmir.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe accused went underground and lived under a concealed identity for several decades,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n
The police said the accused, along with accomplices was involved in a bomb blast on April 2, 1991, at platform number 1 of Jammu railway station. The incident left three persons, including two paramilitary personnel, dead and 18 civilians injured.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the investigation, an accused named Mr. Khan was arrested, while three other accused escaped and could not be arrested at that time and were declared absconders by the concerned court,\u201d the police said.<\/p>\n
