The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams will face off at the MCG on Friday, September 11.<\/p>\n
The AFL semifinals will be played that same weekend, with a risk that two Victorian clubs could be hosting games.<\/p>\n
The Jonas Brothers will perform at half-time of the NFL's season opener between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams at the MCG.<\/p>\n
The NFL announced the headliners for the half-time show overnight. The game will air on Netflix in Australia on the morning of Friday, September 11. The Jonas Brothers will be part of the entertainment line-up for the league's international schedule this season involving seven countries and four continents.<\/p>\n
"We couldn't be more excited to perform at half-time during the NFL's first-ever regular season game in Australia," the Jonas Brothers said in a statement.<\/p>\n
"Playing at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in front of such passionate Australian fans is an incredible honour."<\/p>\n
The Jonas Brothers \u2014 featuring Nick, Joe and Kevin \u2014 have sold more than 20 million albums and recently landed a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.<\/p>\n
Tim Tubito, the NFL's senior director of global game presentation and entertainment, said the league's first regular season game in Australia is a landmark for the NFL.<\/p>\n
The first-ever regular-season NFL game played in Australia has had its date confirmed, with the Melbourne Cricket Ground to host the historic match in the middle of the AFL finals series.\u00a0<\/p>\n
"The Jonas Brothers are global entertainers whose music connects across generations, making them the ideal artists to help us celebrate this historic game in Melbourne," Tubito said.<\/p>\n
"We look forward to delivering a memorable half-time performance for our fans in Australia and those watching around the world."<\/p>\n
The NFL game is set to clash with the AFL's semifinal weekend when the two losing teams of the qualifying finals will host matches.<\/p>\n
That could cause headaches for the AFL if those two teams are Victorian clubs, with Hawthorn likely to finish top four and Melbourne and Geelong still in the hunt.<\/p>\n
