{"id":26732,"date":"2026-08-12T07:08:03","date_gmt":"2026-08-12T07:08:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/futureknowledge.in\/?p=26732"},"modified":"2026-08-12T07:08:03","modified_gmt":"2026-08-12T07:08:03","slug":"baby-lewis-search-suspended-as-south-australia-police-slam-rumours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/futureknowledge.in\/?p=26732","title":{"rendered":"Baby Lewis search suspended as South Australia police slam rumours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police have ended the search for the body of a 3-month-old baby after a fatal incident in South Australia involving the mother and her two children \u2013 and blasted the online rumours about the case.<\/p>\n<p>Helena Wright fell from the cliffs at Cape Northumberland near Port MacDonnell on July 27<br \/>\n         while carrying her children, Hazel, 23 months, and Lewis, aged 3 months.<\/p>\n<p>Local fishermen found the bodies of Wright and Hazel in the water at the base of the cliffs. However, baby Lewis was not found despite extensive search efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators found Wright\u2019s Isuzu SUV parked at the top of the cliff with the engine still running. Authorities have since confirmed they are treating the case as a murder-suicide investigation.<\/p>\n<p>South Australian police announced today that the official search for Lewis had been suspended.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were a group of seven water operations members that came down last Thursday,\u201d Superintendent Trent Cox told the ABC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey conducted three dives before weather stopped that effort. Unfortunately they were not able to find Lewis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe grim reality is he\u2019s unlikely now ever to be found.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cox told the ABC police would still respond if they were called to check washed-up material.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t mean that from time to time we won\u2019t get called to investigate something that may have washed up,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut for now there\u2019s no formal search effort underway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cox asked the public to stop \u201crubbish\u201d rumours circulating online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I\u2019d like to see happen is a lot of the community chatter that\u2019s going on social media to stop,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that\u2019s probably pie-in-the-sky thinking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere there are gaps in information where the community\u2019s not in possession of [that information], for that to be filled with the rubbish that we\u2019re seeing out there helps nobody and it\u2019s incredibly distressing I\u2019m sure for Mr Wright and the extended family.<\/p>\n<p><em>Source: <a href='https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/world\/baby-lewis-search-suspended-as-south-australia-police-slam-rumours\/XJ6TTRJNMFGW3DYXN43IQ6Z3JI\/' target='_blank'>Read the original article on www.nzherald.co.nz<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police have ended the search for the body of a 3-month-old baby after a fatal incident in South Australia involving the mother and her two children \u2013 and blasted the online rumours about the case.
