George and Amal Clooney have made their first high-profile appearance following their terrifying wildfire ordeal in the south of France, stepping out for a glamorous evening in Lake Como with their rarely-seen twins, Ella and Alexander.<\/p>\n
The family of four arrived by boat at the historic Passalacqua hotel on August 10, where they attended a special dinner honoring the Clooney Foundation for Justice.<\/p>\n
Amal, 48, looked elegant in a black dress adorned with delicate floral embroidery, which she teamed with open-toe stilettos, a red beaded evening bag and statement gold tassel earrings.<\/p>\n
George, 65, was equally polished in a gray suit worn over a crisp white shirt, while their nine-year-old twins accompanied their parents for the special evening.<\/p>\n
The family appearance was particularly notable given how fiercely George and Amal protect their children's privacy. The couple, who married in Venice in 2014, welcomed Ella and Alexander in June 2017 and have largely raised them away from the spotlight.<\/p>\n
The outing also comes after a frightening few weeks for the family, who were recently forced to evacuate their home in Provence as wildfires tore through the surrounding area.<\/p>\n
George, Amal and their children were among around 600 residents who evacuated the historic village of Brignoles when a wildfire broke out nearby, reportedly burning around 320 acres.<\/p>\n
While their 18th-century estate escaped the flames, George made clear that his family's concerns extended far beyond their own property. In a letter to Brignoles mayor Didier Br\u00e9mond, shared by his publicist Guido Gotz, the Ocean's Eleven star described the situation as a "terrible moment" and spoke movingly about the family's attachment to their adopted French community.<\/p>\n
"At this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment," he wrote as the family evacuated. George continued: "We hope you and the people of our city are safe," before promising that he and Amal were "committed to making sure" they would help their community recover.<\/p>\n
"We love Brignoles and our friends who live there," he concluded. Residents were subsequently given permission to return home, with George and Amal's property fortunately spared.<\/p>\n
Mayor Br\u00e9mond has since said he has "no doubt" that George will play a role in the community's recovery. Speaking to French news channel BFMTV, he said: "I know he's going to contribute, there's no doubt about that."<\/p>\n
The mayor added that such generosity was characteristic of the Hollywood star. "He does it every time the town or area is affected. He wants to participate precisely to feel fully integrated."<\/p>\n
The family's commitment to the area is significant. George and Amal were awarded French citizenship in December and have increasingly made Provence a base for their family.<\/p>\n
George and Amal purchased their sprawling 18th-century property, Domaine du Canadel, in 2021 for a reported $8.3 million.<\/p>\n
The spectacular 425-acre estate is understood to include a 25-acre vineyard, olive groves, a swimming pool, tennis court and private ornamental lake.<\/p>\n
