Paul Scholes has named two players he wants Manchester United to sign before the transfer deadline, including Arsenal\u2019s shock target Cristian Romero.<\/p>\n
United have bolstered manager Michael Carrick\u2019s squad at Old Trafford with the signings of Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow this summer.<\/p>\n
Carrick is keen to welcome more new signings to the club before the summer transfer window closes, with United chasing a new left-back, another forward and possibly a third midielder.<\/p>\n
Scholes believes a new centre-back should also be on United\u2019s agenda, however, as the current options are \u2018not good enough\u2019.<\/p>\n

As a result, the Old Trafford legend believes his former club should enter the race to sign Argentina defender Romero from Tottenham.<\/p>\n

Romero is set to leave Spurs this summer and Atletico Madrid are leading the race to secure his signature, although Arsenal have also expressed interest in agreeing a shock deal with their north London rivals.<\/p>\n
Scholes admits Romero has \u2018disciplinary issues\u2019 but says those could disappear under the calming influence of Carrick, who earned the permanent United job after impressing as caretaker boss.<\/p>\n
Assessing Manchester United\u2019s priorities for the rest of the transfer window, Scholes said on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast: \u2018I think they\u00a0sorted out the forward areas last\u00a0summer but\u00a0I think they\u00a0probably need\u00a0two centre backs.<\/p>\n

\u2018They\u2019re\u00a0talking about 30 or 40 million\u00a0quid\u00a0for a player who has been centre half in a World Cup final.<\/p>\n
\u2018I\u00a0know\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0got disciplinary\u00a0issues\u00a0but I would\u00a0go and get\u00a0him.\u00a0I think\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0desperate for a centre-back, the current ones\u00a0aren\u2019t\u00a0good enough.\u2019<\/p>\n
