Set us as preferred<\/p>\n<p>Chargers rookie wide receiver Brenen Thompson  said he doesn\u2019t love zipping around.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be fair, I really hate running,\u201d Thompson, a former track star, said. \u201cBut I\u2019m really good at it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thompson has proven that so far in Chargers training camp, sprinting around defenders and maximizing his 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame in passing drills.<\/p>\n<p>His speed and do-it-all attitude have made him one of Justin Herbert\u2019s favorite targets, including on deeper routes, over the last two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>rook goin\u2019 off on day 1 pic.twitter.com\/EBCqT0GpZ4<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s going to be very good,\u201d Herbert said of Thompson. \u201cWe saw it early on that he was going to be. He\u2019s skilled. He\u2019s fast. He\u2019s going to make a lot of plays for us. So, I\u2019m really excited about him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Added Thompson: \u201cI know my speed is pretty much unmatched when I step on the field, and that\u2019s something I take strong confidence in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thompson was clearly the fastest player going into the 2026 NFL draft after he posted a time of 4.26 seconds in the 40-yard dash, the third-best time ever, at the scouting combine.<\/p>\n<p>And after leading the Southeastern Conference with 1,054 receiving yards as a senior at Mississippi State, Thompson impressed the Chargers enough to be their fourth-round pick.<\/p>\n<p>Speed Kills \u26a1\ufe0f pic.twitter.com\/VdtNh0saZh<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s thrived ever since \u2014 as a wideout and as a returner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI agree with Justin,\u201d added coach Jim Harbaugh. \u201cWe\u2019re all seeing the same thing.
