According to the Meteorological Department, a depression system is active around Western Vidarbha and South Madhya Pradesh, which is moving in the west-northwest direction. Due to this, the possibility of heavy rains in western, central and northern India has increased. There is a risk of waterlogging, flash floods and traffic disruptions in many areas. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (IMD) in its Weekly Weather Bulletin released on August 1 has forecast torrential rains, thunderstorms and stormy winds in different parts of the country for the next 7 days.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of extremely heavy rain at isolated places in Gujarat, Kerala and Mahe, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka on August 1. Heavy rain will continue in the area during 1st to 2nd August also. There will be widespread rain in Konkan and Goa from 1st to 7th August, in which heavy rains can be recorded between 1st to 3rd August. Very heavy rain is expected in Central Maharashtra on August 1 and heavy rain on August 2-3. There is a possibility of widespread rain in Saurashtra and Kutch from August 1 to 3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>North-West India: How will the weather be in UP, Rajasthan and Delhi-NCR for the next 7 days?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Heavy rains and thunderstorms will continue in the hilly and plain areas of North India between August 1 and 7. There is a possibility of widespread rain in Eastern Uttar Pradesh from August 2 to 7 and in Western Uttar Pradesh from August 3 to 7. During this period, heavy rain may be recorded between 2nd to 6th August. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at isolated places over East and West Rajasthan on August 1 and 2. There will be thunderstorms, lightning and wind speed of 30-40 km\/h (gusts up to 50 km\/h) during August 1-2. There will be widespread rainfall in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and Punjab between August 3 and 7, with heavy rainfall likely during August 2 to 4.<\/p>\n<p>There will be widespread rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh from August 1 to 7. Heavy rain and stormy winds with a speed of 30-40 km\/hr are expected at isolated places in these states from August 1 to 7.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Central India: Rain activity over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>West Madhya Pradesh will see heavy rain and widespread rainfall on August 1. Widespread rainfall and heavy rain have been predicted in East Madhya Pradesh between August 4 and 7. Chhattisgarh may record widespread rain and heavy rainfall from August 3 to 7. Vidarbha will see widespread rainfall during August 1 and again during August 5-6, while there is a possibility of lightning during August 2-5.<\/p>\n<p><strong>East and Northeast India: Alert of very heavy rain from Assam to Bihar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There will be torrential rains throughout the week in the states of East and North-East India. Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal: There is a possibility of very heavy rain in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim between August 1 and 5. Heavy rain may be recorded in Bihar from 2 to 5 August, Odisha from 2 to 7 August, and Jharkhand on 5 August. Andaman and Nicobar Islands will receive heavy rainfall with squall winds reaching speed of 40-50 km\/hr from August 1 to 7.<\/p>\n<p><strong>South India: Extremely heavy rain in Karnataka and Kerala today, warning of thunderstorms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The most ferocious form of monsoon will be seen in the South Indian Peninsula on August 1. On August 1, there will be extremely heavy rain with torrential rain at isolated places over Kerala and Mahe, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka. Very heavy rain is forecast in these areas on August 2. A squall with speed of 50 to 60 kmph is likely to occur over North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka during August 1 to 2, with gusts reaching up to 70 kmph.<\/p>\n<p>Strong surface winds and thunderstorms with speed reaching 40-50 km\/hr will occur over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Telangana during August 1 to 5.
