IMD Heavy Rain Alert: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major alert. The weather in North India is going to take a turn once again. According to IMD, a new western disturbance is going to affect north-west India from August 4. Due to its effect, from the plains of North India to the hilly states, Central India and North-Eastern states, there will be a period of heavy rain and torrential rain for the next 7 days.<\/strong><\/p>\n

India Weather Update:<\/strong> The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major alert amid monsoon activities across the country. The weather in North India is going to take a turn once again. According to IMD, a new Western Disturbance is going to affect North-West India from August 4. Due to its effect, from the plains of North India to the hilly states, Central India and North-Eastern states, there will be heavy rain and torrential rain for the next 7 days.<\/p>\n

The Meteorological Department has said in its report that along with the new western disturbance in North-West India, the low pressure area over South-West Rajasthan, the cyclonic circulation in the lower troposphere over Uttarakhand and surrounding areas and the cyclonic circulation over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal adjacent to North-West Bangladesh, there will be a huge increase in monsoon rains in different parts of the country.<\/p>\n

North-West India: Heavy rain in Delhi, UP, Punjab and Haryana from 3 to 7 August<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the Meteorological Department, widespread rainfall is expected in the states of North-West India in the coming days. With the western disturbance becoming active from August 4, the scope of rain will increase in the plains. There will be widespread rainfall over East Uttar Pradesh between August 3 and 7 with heavy falls at many places. On August 2, an alert of very heavy rain has been issued at one or two places in Eastern UP. On the other hand, western Uttar Pradesh may receive widespread heavy rainfall during August 4 to 7. However, there will be rain only at isolated places on August 2, 3 and 8.<\/p>\n

Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab will receive widespread heavy rainfall during August 3 to 6 and heavy rainfall is expected on August 3 and 4. Apart from this, sporadic rain will be recorded in these areas on August 2 and August 7-8. There is an alert for widespread rainfall and gusty winds with speed of 30-40 kmph over West Rajasthan on August 2, followed by light to moderate scattered rain from August 3 to 8. Whereas in eastern Rajasthan, heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected at isolated places from August 2 to 8.<\/p>\n

Disaster rain in hilly states: Condition of Himachal, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir<\/strong><\/p>\n

The impact of western disturbance and cyclonic circulation will be most visible on the mountains. There is an alert of widespread torrential rain in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand throughout the week from August 2 to 8. There has been a continuous warning of lightning and heavy rain in Uttarakhand from August 2 to 8.<\/p>\n

There will be widespread rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh from 2 to 6 August and 8 August. Along with heavy rains between August 2 and 5, strong winds with speeds ranging from 30-40 km\/hr to 50 km\/hr and thunderstorms are expected throughout the week (2-8 August).<\/p>\n

Eastern India and Bihar: Alert of extremely heavy rain in Bihar on 3 August<\/strong><\/p>\n

Monsoon rains will increase in the foothills of Central and Eastern Himalayas during the next 4-5 days. There will be widespread rain in Bihar during August 2 to 5. According to IMD, there will be heavy rain in Bihar on August 2, 4 and 5, while on August 3, there is a serious alert of very heavy rain at isolated places in the state. There will be reduction in rainfall in Bihar during 6th to 8th August. Whereas in Jharkhand, widespread rain is expected between 3rd to 8th August and heavy rain is expected from 2nd to 6th August.<\/p>\n

Extremely heavy rainfall is likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during August 2 to 5. Gangetic West Bengal will receive heavy rain between August 5 and 7. There is an alert of heavy rain in Odisha throughout the week from 2 to 8 August and heavy rain in Andaman and Nicobar Islands from 2 to 6 August along with gale force winds with speed of 50-60 km\/hr between 4 to 8 August.<\/p>\n

Northeast India: Heavy to very heavy rain for 5 days in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Monsoon rain activities will increase significantly in East and Northeast India during the next 5 days. Widespread heavy rainfall will occur over Assam and Meghalaya during August 2 to 5, with a warning of very heavy rainfall on August 4.<\/p>\n

Arunachal Pradesh will receive heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places on August 3 and 4 and heavy rain will continue from August 5 to 7. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will see fairly widespread rainfall throughout the week from August 2 to 8, with very heavy rainfall expected on August 4 and isolated heavy rainfall from August 5 to 8.<\/p>\n

Central India: Rain will increase in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from August 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

Madhya Pradesh: Rain activities will increase over East Madhya Pradesh during August 4 to 8 and heavy rainfall will be recorded between August 5 to 8. Heavy rain is expected in Western Madhya Pradesh during August 6 to 8. There is an alert of strong winds (30-40 km\/hr) and lightning in both parts between August 2 and 6. There will be widespread heavy rain in Chhattisgarh during August 3 to 8. Vidarbha will see widespread rainfall during August 2 and August 6 to 8.<\/p>\n

West India: Heavy rain in Konkan, Goa and Maharashtra<\/strong><\/p>\n

Widespread rainfall will continue over coastal areas of Konkan and Goa throughout the week from August 2 to 8 and heavy rainfall is likely on August 2-3. There is an alert of heavy to very heavy rain in Central Maharashtra on August 2 and heavy rain will occur on August 3. Gujarat region, Saurashtra and Kutch will receive light to moderate scattered rain between August 3 and 8, followed by heavy rain and lightning on August 2.<\/p>\n

South India: Heavy rain in coastal Karnataka and Kerala, alert in Tamil Nadu<\/strong><\/p>\n

There will be an overall reduction in monsoon rains in South Peninsular India, but rains will remain heavy in some coastal areas. Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on August 2. After this, heavy rain is expected in these areas on August 3 also.<\/p>\n

Kerala and Mahe will receive heavy rains during August 2-3 and again during August 6-8. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karakal on 2 and 3 August. Apart from this, there will be strong surface winds and gusty winds at the speed of 40-50 km\/hr over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala during August 2 to 6.<\/p>\n
