Guwahati, Aug 2: <\/b>Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Sunday, urged people across the State to actively participate in the online self-enumeration exercise for Census 2027 and submit their details accurately.<\/p>\n
Completing his own self-enumeration online, Sarma appealed to residents to provide accurate information and fulfil their responsibility as citizens by participating in the nationwide exercise.\n<\/p>\n
“Good morning Assam! Today marks the beginning of online self-enumeration for #Census2027 in Assam where you can sit in the comfort of your home and fill in your details. I just did mine; requesting everyone to fill their details correctly and be a part of this exercise,” he said in a social media post.\n<\/p>\n
The Directorate of Census Operations, Assam, has launched the online self-enumeration facility, which will remain available from August 2 to August 16 through the dedicated portal, se.census.gov.in<\/i><\/b>.\n<\/p>\n
The portal allows residents to submit household and individual details online before the commencement of the House Listing and Housing Census Operations (HLO), scheduled from August 17 to September 15.\n<\/p>\n
Director of Census Operations, Assam, Biswajit Pegu, said the self-enumeration initiative marked an important step towards making Census 2027 more participatory, citizen-centric and convenient.\n<\/p>\n
Citizens completing the process online will receive a unique 11-digit Self-Enumeration (SE) ID through SMS or email. The SE ID must be preserved and shared with the census enumerator during the subsequent field verification.\n<\/p>\n
The portal will remain operational daily from 6 am to midnight and supports Assamese, English and 14 other Indian languages.\n<\/p>\n
Pegu urged residents to make full use of the 15-day online window and actively participate in the exercise. During the house-listing phase, trained enumerators will visit households to collect or verify the information submitted through the portal.\n<\/p>\n
Highlighting data security, Pegu said all information collected during the Census is protected under the Census Act, 1948, ensuring statutory safeguards for individual data.\n<\/p>\n
However, the online self-enumeration process, along with training programmes and other preparatory activities, has been postponed in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts due to the prevailing flood situation. Fresh dates for these districts will be announced later.\n<\/p>\n
The Directorate also reminded the public that refusing to answer census questions truthfully, obstructing census officials or providing false information is punishable under the Census Act, 1948.\n<\/p>\n
