Everyone agrees that the Dodgers are in a good position to sign the pitcher at the end of the season, when he becomes a free agent.<\/p>\n
Before the trade, the rumor was that he wanted to sign with the Dodgers.<\/p>\n
That's why, when I hear him say he wants to sign with Detroit in 2027, I can't help but think he's trying to put pressure on the Dodgers.<\/p>\n

His bosses in L.A. probably don't appreciate comments like that\u2026 even though he says he's happy to be in town following the trade.<\/p>\n
Actually, let me clarify: I firmly believe he wants to return to the Michigan team's locker room. After all, he's always had a good time with the guys.<\/p>\n

But I have a hard time believing he wants to get along with his bosses, who took him to arbitration and are refusing to give him what he wants to stay long-term.<\/p>\n

If the money is on the table (which I highly doubt), I think he has a chance of coming back. But you know as well as I do that the \u201cget traded as a loan player and sign the following winter\u201d scenario almost never plays out.<\/p>\n
We'll see in due time, but I view this as a \u201cI'll believe it when I see it\u201d kind of situation.<\/p>\n
