Michael Svoboda and his young family hope to turn Brighton into their home from home with a baby on the way.<\/p>\n
But a trip back to his real home was a nice way to start life with Albion.<\/p>\n
Having returned from international duty with Austria, he was flown back to his native country by his new club.<\/p>\n
The centre-back signed from Venezia was very much on familiar ground – and not just because his club used the same training centre as his national team.<\/p>\n
Svoboda's first non-league club were Schwechat, which is where Vienna airport is located.<\/p>\n
If you catch the U2 train from the city centre to the Austrian FA training base which Albion enjoyed using, you go right past the national stadium.<\/p>\n
Then you stop in the suburb of Stadlau, where he played third-tier football for two years.<\/p>\n
It feels more like non-league and Stadlau are well known for having a public outdoor swimming pool right next to their pitch.<\/p>\n
He told The Argus: "I grew up here in the city, in the tenth district, which is 20 minutes from here.<\/p>\n
"I was playing there in a local team for approximately ten years.<\/p>\n
"I grew up in the city, I enjoyed the city a lot. Obviously, it's nice to be back because you can see some family and friends as well, but also you can enjoy the city.<\/p>\n
"If you know the city well, you know the places where to go."<\/p>\n
Svoboda was tempted by ski-ing as a youngster but added: "I wasn't good enough. It was always going to be football.<\/p>\n
"As a young lad, of course you dream about it (the Premier League), but I had other goals.<\/p>\n
"My goal was always to get into the (Austrian) Bundesliga and then, of course, try as far as possible.<\/p>\n
