England footballer Ivan Toney has been charged with assault after an incident at a Soho nightclub.<\/p>\n
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the striker was charged on Thursday, July 31 with assault causing actual bodily harm at the central London venue.<\/p>\n
He will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, September 24.<\/p>\n
The charge relates to an alleged assault at a nightclub on Wardour Street that took place on December 6 last year, the Met said.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the star said: "Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court."<\/p>\n
Toney played for Brentford between 2020 and 2024, netting 128 goals for the west London club, before moving to Saudi club Al-Ahli for \u00a340million.<\/p>\n
He has taken the Saudi Pro League by storm in his two seasons with the Jeddah-based club, bagging 55 goals in 62 appearances.<\/p>\n
He played for England at the Euro 2024 championships and the 2026 World Cup, and has ten caps and one international goal to his name.<\/p>\n
