The Birbhum resident was pregnant at the time.<\/p>\n<p>She was <a href=\"https:\/\/scroll.in\/latest\/1089063\/pregnant-woman-son-who-were-forced-into-bangladesh-brought-back-to-india\">brought back to India<\/a> on December 5, 2025, after the Supreme Court, taking note of her advanced pregnancy, asked the Union government whether the mother and the son could be returned to India.<\/p>\n<p>The Union government had said it would bring Khatun back on humanitarian grounds, but \u201cwithout prejudice\u201d to New Delhi\u2019s \u201ccontentions on merits and our right to put them under surveillance\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Adhikari on Saturday asserted that undocumented immigrants would not be allowed to stay in West Bengal, and would be sent back, <em>The Telegraph<\/em> reported.
