Updated on 26.08.2026 – MG has finally launched the new Hector Tomahawk EV in India with the introductory starting price of Rs 13.99 lakh, ex-showroom, with BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) and battery rental of Rs 4.9 per km. Note that the SUV is available as an EV and PHEV. We have seen MG come up with extremely competitive pricing strategies for all its EVs due to BaaS. Hence, the initial cost becomes immensely enticing for the potential customers. We know that the Tomahawk is the first product based on the new ADAPT architecture. Furthermore, the company is providing a lifetime warranty on the high-voltage battery along with a 3-year unlimited vehicle warranty, 3-year roadside assistance, 2-year labour-free service and an assured buyback program. The bookings are open now and the deliveries are set to commence from September 2026.
The MG Hector Tomahawk EV starts at Rs 13.99 lakh, ex-showroom, with Rs 4.90 per km battery rental. Without the BaaS, the electric SUV ranges from Rs 19.49 lakh to Rs 23.49 lakh, ex-showroom. On the other hand, the PHEV avatar starts at Rs 21.79 lakh + Rs 3.20 per km battery rental. These are quite exciting prices, especially compared to the rivals in this space. We know that the electric SUV was already completely leaked ahead of launch. Hence, we knew what it would look like. The front fascia contains a sleek LED headlamp cluster with integrated dual LED DRL light strips, a narrow grille section since it is an electric car and a robust bumper. Moving down the sides, there are black side pillars, functional roof rails, a rising shoulder line, creaseless side body panels, elegant alloy wheels and pronounced wheel arches with rugged claddings. Finally, the tail section highlights the roof-mounted spoiler with a high-mount stop lamp, split LED taillamps and a sporty bumper with a rugged skid plate. All in all, the Hector Tomahawk certainly bears a distinct road presence.
This is one area where MG simply excels regardless of the segment it operates in. Therefore, even the Hector Tomahawk comes loaded with the latest tech and convenience amenities. This is where things get really interesting. The MG Hector Tomahawk comes in two avatars – EV and PHEV. The EV version draws power from a 69.2 kWh battery pack, with the help of which the electric motor generates a decent 204 PS (150 kW) and 310 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. This battery pack is good for a certified driving range of 517 km on a single charge and supports 90 kW DC fast charging. On the other hand, the PHEV guise uses a 1.5-litre petrol mill with a 20.5 kWh battery for a pure electric range of 115 km. In this configuration, the large SUV achieves a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of around 9 seconds, which is pretty impressive. Also, the system shifts effortlessly between pure electric, series hybrid, parallel hybrid and engine direct drives.
Updated on 17.08.2026 – The new MG Hector Hawk EV has been spotted on Indian roads ahead of the debut without any camouflage. This is not generally how carmakers operate. They make every effort to conceal the exterior of a new car prior to the launch. Nevertheless, we already know that the Hector Hawk EV is inspired by an international model. Therefore, the styling will likely remain identical to that model. Perhaps that is why the car company is not exactly striving to hide it. In any case, the latest post by punekar_nikhil on Instagram, combined with the official teaser video, does reveal a lot of aspects.
At the front, we see a sleek LED headlamp cluster with integrated dual LED DRLs light strips, a narrow grille section since it is an electric car and a robust bumper. Even though the name might have Hector in it, the exterior styling is not related to the Hector. It means that the buyers will have a completely different product to opt for. On the sides, the large dimensions become apparent, the alloy wheels look elegant and the black side pillars give it that floating roof effect. More details will emerge in the coming days.

Firstly, the exterior styling is heavily inspired by the Wuling Startlight 560 SUV, which is on sale abroad. On the inside, we get to know that it will bear 3-row seating, glass roof, premium materials and the latest tech and convenience amenities. However, the most important information is the plug-in charging port. This implies that the SUV will either be a fully electric or a plug-in hybrid vehicle. In the case of the latter, it will have a decent electric-only range for everyday usage. More details will keep emerging as the launch nears.
Updated on 13.08.2026 – MG has announced that the new Hector Hawk will make its debut in India on August 26, 2026. Note that the SUV will be adapted for our market from the Wuling Startlight 560, which is already on sale in many parts of the world. In fact, we even reported the spy testing of the SUV a couple of months ago. The teaser post on social media from JSW MG Motor India showcases the silhouette of the Hector Hawk wrapped in a thick covering. It will be the first MG car to debut with its recently-announced ADAPT (Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology) multi-energy platform.
This platform can support multiple powertrain configurations including EV (Electric Vehicle), HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle), PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) and REEV (Range Extender Electric Vehicle). As per the information in the teaser poster, the Hector Hawk could be the electric or PHEV avatar. MG is already quite successful in the EV space with cars like the Windsor, Comet and ZS EV. With yet another large SUV added to that list, the competition in this segment will heat up. It could rival the likes of Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and Mahindra XEV 9S. Note that MG has emerged as an enticing carmaker in India for anyone purchasing an electric car in the last couple of years. It currently sells the ZS EV, Comet and Windsor in electric guises. This captures a wide range of market segments to cater to the needs of Indian buyers. For instance, the ZS EV is a mid-size electric SUV for urban users and families. On the other hand, the Comet is for those who want a compact EV primarily to run errands on a daily basis. Finally, the Windsor offers a distinct product aimed at those who value comfort and convenience over everything else.
As is the case with many MG products, these are generally badge-engineered for the Indian market. The Starlight 560 is also an international model, which goes by the names of Wuling Starlight 560, Xingguang 560 and Wuling Eksion, depending on which country you are in. In any case, SAIC GM Wuling Automobile Compact Limited recently filed the design patent for the Starlight 560 in India. That already pointed to the arrival of this new SUV in our market. Note that the international is available in two guises – fully electric and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid). Hence, it would be interesting to see which will be JSW MG Motor India’s pick for our market.
Even though the official model has not been revealed for India, we know from past experience that MG generally changes very few things in terms of design while bringing an international product to our shores. That is likely to be the case with the Starlight 560 as well. This assumption is also corroborated by the spy images that have been doing the rounds on the internet. Firstly, the overall demeanour and silhouette of the large SUV clearly resemble the car on sale abroad. From the sides, we witness the length of the SUV along with the styling components.
The international version stands at 4,745 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,755 mm high with a wheelbase of 2,810 mm. These dimensions make it incredibly spacious. Furthermore, the exterior highlights include LED headlamps, a sealed-off grille (in the case of an EV), a sporty bumper and a high bonnet stance. On the sides, it gets dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels, functional roof rails, rising shoulder line towards the rear quarter and prominent wheel arches. Finally, the tail section contains a rather large roof-mounted spoiler, noticeable LED taillamps and a solid bumper. Overall, the design reeks of a combination of an SUV and an MPV. In any case, the road presence of the MG Starlight 560 will certainly be imposing.
On the inside, the MG Starlight 560 is bound to bear a modern and feature-laden cabin. That is something MG cars have been famous for since the brand’s inception. Modern buyers want their vehicles to have all the latest bells and whistles, which is why carmakers ensure that they equip their models with the latest gadgets and gizmos. There is no reason to believe that it won’t be the case with the Starlight 560.
