For a family looking for a seven seater, the choice is usually between a petrol or diesel SUV and an electric car. MG has now added another option to that list. JSW MG Motor India has launched the Hector Tomahawk PHEV in India with a petrol engine, electric motor and a large battery. The new model is priced from Rs 25.70 lakh and is also sold with a Battery as a Service option.

The Hector Tomahawk PHEV was launched alongside its electric version. It India’s first mainstream plug in hybrid SUV.

The introductory prices are available for a limited number of bookings. Bookings have opened and deliveries are scheduled to start in November 2026.

The biggest number attached to the Hector Tomahawk PHEV is its claimed range. MG says the SUV can cover more than 115km using electric power alone.

With a full fuel tank and fully charged battery, the claimed combined range goes beyond 1,100km.

The four modes are Pure EV, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid and Engine Direct Drive. The system can select the suitable mode automatically according to speed, throttle input, battery charge and road conditions.

MG says the system can change between its different modes in 0.1 seconds. The battery supports 3.3kW AC charging and 25kW DC charging.

The PHEV gets its own front bumper and a traditional grille with rectangular elements. An illuminated MG logo sits at the centre. Other exterior details include:

The Hector Tomahawk PHEV gets a seven seat cabin with a sliding and reclining second row. Equipment includes a 15.6 inch touchscreen, 8.8 inch driver display, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and a 10 speaker Infinity audio system.

It also gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, OTA updates, digital key sharing, gesture controls and an AI based assistant.

Safety equipment includes six airbags ESP traction control TPMS ABS with EBD hill hold and front and rear parking sensors. The higher Essence variant also gets Level 2 ADAS with adaptive cruise control lane keep assist automatic emergency braking traffic jam assist and more.

MG is also offering a lifetime warranty on the high voltage battery for the first owner, subject to its terms.

The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV gives buyers a different way to use a large family SUV. It can cover daily trips on electric power and still offer petrol for longer journeys. With prices starting at Rs 25.70 lakh, it will be interesting to see how buyers respond to this new setup.
