Guenther Steiner says Tech3 could consider a Moto2 return to complement its existing MotoGP and Moto3 programmes in future.

Tech3 boss Guenther Steiner admits it is a little “odd” that the team has MotoGP and Moto3 projects, but no presence in Moto2.

The French-based squad previously competed, and won, in the intermediate class with its own chassis from 2010 to 2018, before switching to a KTM frame alongside its new MotoGP partnership in 2019.

The Tech3 Moto2 project was then shelved in favour of Moto3 the following year.

However, Steiner, part of the investment group that acquired Tech3 from Herve Poncharal at the end of last season, “isn’t counting out” competing in all three classes in the future.

“We are committed to Moto3. And I think as one of the teams here, we should invest in the ladder,” Steiner said at Silverstone.

“Let's see what is happening with Moto2.

"I'm always keeping an eye on everything that is worthwhile to do, because it would be nice to have the complete ladder. All three.

“It's odd if you have Moto3, and you have MotoGP, but no Moto2.

“It would be more [logical] having Moto2 and MotoGP, but we ended up having Moto3 and MotoGP.

“So let's see. But I keep an eye on it, and maybe if the opportunity arises, we can look at it.

Tech3, which has celebrated Moto3 podiums this season with Valentin Perrone, is expected to sign Moto2 star Senna Agius and HRC's Luca Marini to form an all-new MotoGP line-up in 2027.

The Tech3 Moto3 project could also be set for a fresh start next season with both Perrone and team-mate Rico Salmela tipped to leave.
