It was the year 2011 when Skoda launched the Rapid in India. The sedan was known for its clean design and simple cabin. A decade later, the ageing Rapid was replaced by the Slavia, which made its debut in November 2021 before its official launch in 2022. Now, fast forward to 2026, the Slavia has received its much awaited facelift.
Skoda has revealed the updated sedan today and bookings are now open. Deliveries of the new Slavia will begin this festive season.
The Slavia still carries its familiar shape, but several details are new. Skoda has worked on the front and rear sections with –
The Monte Carlo gets extra touches such as red brake callipers, red grille detailing, Monte Carlo badges, a rear lip spoiler and a diffuser. It gets black interiors with red accents.
There are 10 exterior colours. Arctic Silver and Cappuccino Beige are the new additions. Cappuccino Beige deliveries will start from December 2026.
The range has five regular trim levels and the Monte Carlo sits at the top. Dual tone colour options are available on selected versions.
The dashboard design is familiar, but the equipment list has received several additions. A new 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster replaces the older 8 inch unit.
The infotainment screen has grown to 10.1 inches and supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A 360 degree camera is another important addition. Rear passengers get massaging seats, which is a first for this segment.
There are still a few missing features. Rear ventilated seats, rear sun blinds, rear climate zone and ADAS are not offered.
The biggest mechanical update is the new 8 speed torque converter automatic for the 1.0 TSI engine. The 115hp and 178Nm motor continues with a 6 speed manual too.
The larger 1.5 TSI makes 150hp and 250Nm and is paired with a 7 speed DSG. It is available only on the Prestige and Monte Carlo trims. The earlier 1.5 TSI manual option is no longer listed.
Pre-bookings for the second batch of the Octavia RS have also opened, with only 50 units available. The brand has opened expressions of interest for the new-gen Superb TDI, with deliveries expected from the second quarter of next year.
For the Slavia, the idea is to give buyers more equipment and a smoother automatic option without major changes to the formula. The same engines and familiar cabin layout continue, but the new screens, camera, rear seat massage function and 8 speed gearbox give it more reasons to stay on the shortlist.
The facelift will face the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Virtus.
The Slavia has simple driving feel and straightforward layout. This update keeps that character, but adds features that buyers expect from a modern sedan. The new automatic should help in city traffic.
