NBA 2K27 players got their first hint of a Grand Theft Auto 6 tie-in on 25 August, after 2K slipped Vice City palm trees, neon lighting, and police sirens into a Season 1 trailer teasing a GTA-themed Season 3.
The clip, released alongside the game's Season 1 announcement, closes on a scene lifted straight from GTA's world. A 2K Mart storefront gives way to a purple-and-pink skyline, seagulls, and two arcade cabinets stamped 'Season 3' and carrying the 2K and Rockstar Games logos. The palm tree graphic matches artwork Rockstar first shared in 2023.

Both 2K and Rockstar are owned by Take-Two Interactive, and the tease reads less like a hidden Easter egg than a coordinated marketing move between the company's two biggest earners.
The trailer maps out NBA 2K27's live-service calendar. Season 1 begins 26 August, the same day early access opens for buyers of the game's premium editions, ahead of a full launch on 4 September. Season 2 is confirmed for 16 October.
Season 3 has no locked date, but 2K's recent seasons have run roughly six weeks, which points to a late November start. 2K has not detailed what the crossover will contain, leaving players to guess at Vice City courts, themed gear, or limited-time events.
GTA 6 launches on 19 November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, after Rockstar pushed the date back from May. A late November Season 3 would land days after that release, putting NBA 2K27 in front of millions of players at the exact moment GTA 6 hype peaks.
The sequence tightens this week. Rockstar's first official GTA 6 gameplay reveal, billed as an 'extended look', premieres on Netflix on 27 August at 3 p.m. ET, before reaching the studio's own channels six hours later. The Netflix deal is itself a first for Rockstar, handing a streaming platform the premiere of its biggest release.
Take-Two chairman and chief executive Strauss Zelnick has said GTA 6 marketing would ramp up through 2026. Folding the game's identity into a separate franchise's content stretches that campaign across the publisher's catalogue, a play closer to how film studios build shared universes than how games are usually sold.
For anyone already sold on GTA 6, the tease is one more signal the 19 November date is holding. For NBA 2K27 players, it hints they will soon be dressing avatars in Vice City colours on the virtual court.
Nothing about the crossover is formally announced beyond the trailer itself, so the Netflix reveal and Rockstar's channels are the places to watch. GTA 6's standard edition is priced at $80 (£59), and Take-Two has every reason to sell it to as many of its players as possible.
