After 20 long years, Onimusha is finally back. Capcom has officially launched Onimusha: Way of the Sword worldwide, bringing the beloved samurai action series back with a brand-new adventure packed with brutal sword fights, demons, and supernatural abilities.
Players can now jump into the action on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword takes players to a dark and twisted version of Edo-period Kyoto, where historical locations, Japanese legends, and real figures collide with a supernatural threat. At the center of the chaos is Miyamoto Musashi, one of Japan’s most legendary swordsmen. His journey quickly takes a dangerous turn after he encounters the demonic Genma and obtains the mysterious Oni Gauntlet.
Although the gauntlet grants Musashi incredible supernatural powers, the legendary swordsman would rather prove himself with his own skill. That means players will have to master fast-paced sword combat featuring parries, dodges, deflections, and devastating counterattacks. Fan-favorite mechanics such as Issen and Soul Absorption also make their return.
Musashi can also acquire powerful Oni Armaments and Oni Abilities, opening up new combat options and allowing him to reach previously inaccessible areas. These abilities will come in handy when facing the game’s formidable bosses.
Capcom has also released a free demo, giving players a chance to experience a portion of the adventure before committing to the full game. After two decades away, Onimusha has finally drawn its sword again, and this comeback looks ready to make an impact.
