Hannah Einbinder just schooled Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones on the art of screaming.
The actor got a lot of practice letting out her inner rage while filming her new movie “Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma,” and she was happy to share some tricks of the trade while appearing on TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle Aug. 4.
During the interview, Jenna complimented Einbinder on her screaming abilities, calling her a “scream queen.”
To develop her screaming skills, Einbinder said she went to a Reiki healer.
“Did you know you were blocked there?” Jenna asked.
“I didn’t. I just feel like as a person, I experienced anger and immediately it turned to sadness. Like I wasn’t able to really exercise my rage,” Einbinder said.
Sheinelle, who admitted that she’s never really been able to scream, was curious to know if Einbinder thinks screaming helps release pent up anger.
“I do,” Einbinder said. “And I think if you find it hard to really scream, that’s also information to perhaps kind of ask why you don’t have access to that part of your voice.”
After undergoing vocal chord surgery, Sheinelle didn’t attempt to scream, but Jenna was up for an exercise with Einbinder.
“I’m perimenopausal so the rage is just (there),” Jenna joked.
Einbinder encouraged viewers to join in and instructed Jenna on how to let out her inner rage.
“We’re gonna take a deep breath in and out, and then another deep breath in, and then we’re gonna let it rock,” she said.
When the time came to scream, Jenna began to join Einbinder, but was overshadowed by the actor’s guttural sound. Sheinelle covered her ears to block out the noise.
The co-hosts were left speechless. Sheinelle and a few crew members applauded Einbinder.
“Feels like I’m the only one who did it,” the actor teased. “It feels like y’all were gonna do it with me.”
