Toby Greene says he’s spoken with Zak Butters about the possibility of joining forces at Geelong, as the Giants skipper weighs up his future.
Greene and Butters been linked to the Cats to finish their careers in Victoria in what could be a mega double coup for Chris Scott’s side.

Greene, who turns 33 later this month, is an unrestricted free agent, meaning he can walk to whichever he club he pleases. He met with Geelong and Essendon this week while he considers a departure from GWS.
Meanwhile, Butters is a restricted free agent but has already declared his plans to return to Victoria, with Geelong, the Western Bulldogs and Richmond in the mix for the superstar’s services.
Greene has revealed he discussed Butters with Cats officials during their recent catch up and touched base with the Port Adelaide gun, too.
“I asked (about Butters), obviously it’s fairly important and they did (talk about him),” Greene said on SEN radio.
“I spoke to Zak as well and it’s probably something I’ll do again in the next few days, because he obviously adds a bit of weight to that decision.”
Asked what Butters said to him, Greene said: “He sort of said where his head was at and some of the things he valued very highly in his decision.
“That’s for him to say, I won’t talk about them on behalf of him, but that was kind of what I asked him.”
Greene said the family pull in Victoria was the main reason he was weighing up returning to his home state, but denied he’d actually toured any rival club’s facilities.
The Giants games record holder maintained that achieving success at GWS “would be the best thing I could do in footy,” as he grapples with the tough decision.
“I don’t know if I actually toured anywhere, that was a bit off the money,” he said.
“But I’ve had a busy week and there’s probably a fair bit of thinking coming up for next week. Sort of really wrestling with the decision.
“It’s something I’ll work out with (wife) Georgia and the family over the next hopefully only a week or so.
