Motorists were urged to take care after cows strayed onto the A9 in Perthshire.

Traffic Scotland said the animals were spotted on the northbound carriageway between Blackford and Greenloaning early on Wednesday morning.

Drivers were warned to approach the area with caution while efforts were made to move the cattle from the road.

In a light-hearted message on social media, Traffic Scotland said: "Please take care or use an udder route until the cows have been moooved on."

The presence of livestock on the carriageway could cause hazards for motorists, particularly on the busy trunk road, and road users were advised to remain alert if travelling through the area.

The animals were eventually cleared around 7:30am.

Traffic Scotland posted on social media: “The coos have since moooved on from the A9 between Blackford and Greenloaning and no longer have beef with the traffic.”
