Internet creator, who is developing a film and a TV series, said that she never thought she’d bring her star-making show to an end

Amelia Dimoldenberg is ending her popular internet chat show Chicken Shop Date after more than 12 years and over 100 episodes.
The comedian and content creator found fame with the series, which sees Dimoldenberg talk to celebrities on a fake “date” at a series of London chicken shops. Among the superstars who’ve appeared on the show over the years include Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, Cher, Jennifer Lawrence and Andrew Garfield, the latter with whom Dimoldenberg has been involved in a lengthy will-they/won’t-they and only lightly fictional flirtation.
On her Instagram, Dimoldenberg wrote that she never thought she’d bring Chicken Shop Date to a close “but I feel like it’s now time to move on from this adventure and onto a new one”.
She wrote: “When I was 17 I had a fantastic idea that I might meet the love of my life on a date in a chicken shop. I’ve spent my entire twenties sitting across from the most incredible people, people I’d always dreamt of meeting. All of them charmed me (some more than others) and I definitely charmed them. To me the show is my very own romcom and I have loved creating so many stories for you to watch. I am so grateful to everyone who has followed me on this journey and found some joy in these episodes.”
Dimoldenberg did not indicate when the show – which is released on her YouTube page – will officially come to an end, but teased a last run of episodes.
“Before I say goodbye forever, I want to celebrate everything Chicken Shop Date has been for me with a few final dates… coming very soon.”
Dimoldenberg has translated her internet fame into a series of IRL jobs, including a high-profile gig as the official red carpet correspondent for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and has chatted to stars on the Oscars red carpet for three successive years.
Her famously deadpan style has been replicated across the internet via other creators, and she has also presented shows for Channel 4 and ITV. Earlier this year she had a cameo as herself in the comedy sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2, and is reported to be writing a romantic comedy film for Amazon in which she will star.

Last month, while speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Dimoldenberg revealed that she is developing a teen drama series for the BBC, teasing that it would be her “version of Skins” – a reference to the celebrated Channel 4 teen drama that made stars of actors including Nicholas Hoult, Dev Patel, Daniel Kaluuya and Jack O’Connell.
She also said that a handful of stars have so far spurned the opportunity to appear on Chicken Shop Date, including Timothée Chalamet and Beyoncé.
