Stoke Games has officially launched its free-to-play multiplayer tank shooter, Tyr, in Early Access on Steam. The game also arrives with a new launch trailer, giving players a closer look at the armored combat waiting for them.
The cool part is that Tyr has already spent more than three years in playtesting, allowing the team to build an established community before its Early Access launch. New players can now jump in and join that growing player base from day one.
The gameplay focuses heavily on positioning, strategy, and making the most of each tank’s unique abilities. Players can choose from a variety of armored vehicles, each featuring different armor profiles and special abilities such as cloaking technology, sonar pulses, and deployable drones.
Your choice of tank also determines how you contribute to the team. Light tanks can scout enemy positions, damage-focused vehicles can attack from a distance, while heavy tanks are built to withstand punishment and dominate close-range fights.
Tyr also features individual tech trees, ammo slots, and component upgrades, giving players plenty of ways to customize their vehicles. Stoke Games says the progression system will avoid pay-to-win mechanics, with no premium tanks, weapons, or consumables designed to give paying players an unfair advantage.
Players who want to support the game can also pick up the Founder’s Pack, which includes an exclusive founder title, a golden Tyr charm, and 3,000 Gold.
With its Early Access launch finally here, Tyr looks ready to put its long-running playtest community to the test on a much bigger stage.
