Russian President Vladimir Putin is to address the Eastern Economic Forum in the Pacific port city of Vladivostok on Thursday, speaking on the state of Russia's economy in the fifth year of its war against Ukraine.

Putin is scheduled to deliver a speech before taking part in a panel discussion to answer questions.

Putin regularly uses the forum – as he does with its counterpart in St Petersburg in June – to set out his views on the situation inside Russia and on foreign policy.

According to the Kremlin, Putin is also due to meet the Indonesian president, the Mongolian prime minister and delegations from several countries, including China, on the same day.

Russia's economy is under strain from high state spending on the war as well as foreign sanctions. Putin has so far been willing to accept this in order to achieve his goals in Ukraine.
