AI can now write software quickly, but getting that software into the real world remains complicated, and SaaS major Zoho wants to bridge this gap with a new variant of its product.
Zoho has launched the latest iteration of its cloud development platform, Catalyst 3.0, which allows software developers to take applications live by provisioning, connecting, and operating the underlying cloud infrastructure.
Catalyst 3.0 helps developers take an app straight from their Agentic AI coding assistants, such as Claude Code or Codex, to production-grade infrastructure without leaving the coding environment.
Speaking to businessline, Anand Nergunam, Global Vice President, Revenue Growth at Zoho, said Catalyst’s latest version is particularly aimed at addressing the gap between AI-assisted coding and the actual deployment of applications at scale. Catalyst itself has seen more than 10x growth in its customer base since its launch in 2021.
“What it takes to complete a full cycle of the software development is still broken and it takes months after the code is written to take it live. We did something to bridge this gap where one developer could build an app today used by millions of users in three weeks flat, right from idea to a scaled app with all cloud services like database, storage, security etc,” he said.
Zoho wants Catalyst to be not just a developer tool but also an Indian alternative to global cloud platforms.
By combining its own data centre infrastructure with development, database, and storage services, Zoho intends for Catalyst to be an Indian alternative to hyperscalers such as AWS and Azure, Nergunam said.
“We own, manage and optimise the infrastructure. So we have a cost position which is significantly better compared to what a developer could get from someone else,” he said.
To enhance accessibility and equip future developers with modern tools, the platform is also offering a free student programme that allows next-gen developers to learn, experiment, and deploy applications.
