Cauley Woodrow was left frustrated and angry after a controversial penalty decision helped Sheffield Wednesday come from behind to beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 at Adams Park.

The striker gave the Chairboys the perfect start when he fired them into the lead after six minutes, scoring for the second successive match.

Louie Barry equalised five minutes later before the game's major flashpoint arrived on the stroke of half-time.

Woodrow was adjudged to have fouled Callum Slattery inside the box, with referee David Rock pointing to the spot.

Jamal Lowe converted the penalty and the visitors went on to secure all three points.

The decision sparked fury among the Wycombe camp, with tensions boiling over at the break as players from both sides became involved in a scuffle near the tunnel.

Speaking afterwards, assistant head coach Alex Morris said Woodrow's reaction was understandable given the significance of the decision.

"He had a really good game tonight as well," Morris said.

"So, to be pulled up for something around the box was disappointing.

"All the video evidence from every angle that we've looked at would suggest it wasn't."

Morris said Woodrow's anger was born out of a sense of injustice rather than a loss of composure.

"I've not seen him lose his temper in all the time I've been here and that's pushing a year now," he said.

"He sensed an injustice and he knew that was ultimately going to have a big impact on the game."

Wycombe also felt they should have been awarded a penalty in the second half when Gabriel Otegbayo appeared to handle a shot from Caolan Boyd-Munce.

The frustration continued after the final whistle, with head coach Michael Duff shown a red card by referee Rock.
